What is a Remedial Therapist?

Remedial massage is the systematic assessment and treatment of the muscles, tendons, ligaments and connective tissues of the body to assist in rehabilitation, pain and injury management.

What do I need to bring?

Be prepared to provide your previous medical or surgical history. If you have them and if they are relevant, bring scan/MRI reports. You may wish to bring shorts and t-shirt.

How many visits will I need?

The number of treatments will vary depending on the problem and the individual. After a thorough assessment, your therapist will discuss the treatment plan and the rehabilitation process with you.

What should I wear to my appointment?

If we are treating your feet, you will not be asked to undress however if we are treating your back, you will be more comfortable in modest underwear or even a pair of shorts & singlet is appropriate. We also provide gowns that will help you feel comfortable during the assessment & treatment process.

Do I have to be referred by a doctor?

No, remedial therapists can assess and treat without referral by a doctor. However if you are seeking treatment under Workcover you will need a letter of referral from your treating doctor.
