Resetting for 2022

Now Christmas is done and dusted, and New Year celebrations have been and gone. The kids are back at school, and life is returning to some kind of ‘NORMAL‘ Whatever that is in 2022!
Many of us have decided to start the new year with some resolutions to change what we don’t like about our lifestyle. More often than not, however, these go by the way-side relatively quickly. If we break them up into smaller, more achievable goalposts we stand a better chance of taking action on these and achieving our goals.
Focus on sustainable achievements and then build on these small steps.
Here are a few ideas to help you reset yourself for 2022:

  • Defend against snack attacks – Keep some dates or almonds handy to snack on when you get hungry instead of reaching for ice cream or Tim Tams. Or maybe pick up a book to read or call a friend to take your mind off the cravings.
  • Try to meditate – It doesn’t have to be a lot, even for 1 minute a day, and then you can build on that as you feel the benefits increase.
  • Keep hydrated – Carry a water bottle with you or have one at your work station and refill when empty. Your energy levels, digestion and your joints will thank you for it!
  • Smile more – Smiling releases endorphins in your brain and makes you happier and more relaxed. Try smiling every time you answer your phone.
  • Declutter your space little by little – Clutter can create unnecessary stress and distractions. So just allocating a 15-minute time slot once a week to make your area sleek and tidy can do a lot to ease your stress levels.

Remember when you are setting goals they need to be SMART . . .

So, there it is, some small but very achievable steps to start making positive changes in your life. Be patient, and don’t beat yourself up if you do decide to sit and binge on a Netflix series. Call it meditation if you like!

Have a healthy, happy, and prosperous 2022.
